MATHS AND COMPUTING REPORT

Denis Vlismas - Head Teacher Mathematics and Computing

Chess Club

Everyone is welcome to come and join the chess club and have some fun. Denis is available for coaching every Friday during recess. The large chess set is permanently located outside the Library and smaller sets are in the Library's games room. Please ask the Library if you wish to borrow a chess set.  You can also learn how to use a Chess Clock and play speed chess. This will allow you to beat your opponents in record times.

If you wish to participate in the Year 12 Chess Competition, please see Denis for entry details.  The winner will be crowned 2022 Chess Champion and will have bragging rights for the rest of their life. May you always checkmate your opponents.

Pictured are some members of the Chess Club enjoying the beautiful weather. In the foreground, we have Nimsha Meghwar and Abbas Masri. Abbas told me he has a black belt in chess, but I think Nimsha has him on the ropes!

Maths Tutoring

Free Mathematics tutoring is alive and well at Wyndham College. Pauline is available every Monday and Graham is available from Tuesday to Friday. Denis also provides free tuition every Monday after school from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. There is plenty of support to any student who would like some help. Come one, come all. We want to help you build up your maths muscles and teach you how to run through a brick wall with the magic of just a calculator. Graham’s tutoring is also full steam ahead. Pictured from left to right is Tharuki Gamagedara, Clyde Tordecillas,  Mehul Saxena, Arshdeep Rathour and Arjun Yellavarjula. The students love their mathematics tuition, and it all adds up.

Robotics Club

Pictured here is Tharuki Gamagedara who is a member of the Robotics Club. Today, she is making and coding a robot to conquer the world. If you would like to join Tharuki, you are more than welcome to see Mel Durie and join the Robots Club. Do you think we need Superman to stop her?
