Remembrance Day

Last Friday the College community gathered and paused in our day to honour our women and men who have served in battle so that we might enjoy the freedoms that we do today. Our Remembrance Day Ceremony was attended by many special guests and ex-servicemen. History Coordinator Mr Pat Rodgers provided a reflection on the meaning of Remembrance Day, adding a personal touch with the stories of his great uncle who served and died during World War I. The detail that he was able to provide came from his research on the Australian War Memorial site and the College community were urged to look up details of family who had served. A wreath was laid and the solemnity of the occasion was palpable at the playing of the Last Post and The Rouse by Samuel Cummins of Year 10. Lest we forget.

Christmas Giving at the College

All families are asked to support our Christmas Giving. Please note that each year group has been made responsible for supporting an organisation that assists those living on the margins. Goods can be bought into the College on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays where students will collect donations from homerooms. Of particular note is Year 10 students who are required to provide a wrapped present for an employee of Centacare – a Catholic organisation that provides meaningful employment for adults living with severe intellectual disabilities.

  • St Vincent de Paul
  • The Bowraville community
  • Catholic Care
  • The Burdekin Association
  • Centacare
  • St Michael’s, Darlington

Each of these organisations provide assistance to those experiencing hardship. Full details of requests per year group can be found in the document below:

Eucharistic Ministers Training

This Friday 18 November a group of Year 10 students will complete their training with Fr David Ranson so as to serve the community as Eucharistic Ministers. These young men will be presented to the College at our Closing Mass.
