White Ribbon Day - 2022

S.Cummings - Stage 3 Assistant Principal

Breaking the Silence

Last Friday, our Year 6 students and teachers participated in the combined White Ribbon Walk with schools in our network. We attended the walk with: Bonnyrigg HS, Bonnyrigg Heights PS, Bossley Park HS, Bossley Park PS, Cecil Hills HS, Governor Philip King PS, Middleton Grange PS, Prairiewood HS, Prairievale PS, St Johns Park HS and William Stimson PS. As a grade, we travelled by bus to Prairiewood Leisure Centre and walked to Terone Park in Bossley Park. We proudly walked with a school banner and white ribbon stickers.

Dale Palmer, the Director of the ‘Breaking the Silence’ program joined us on the walk and addressed the students and teachers at the park. As a network we took the pledge and signaled our commitment to this cause by tying a white ribbon on each other’s wrist. The walk was designed to raise awareness about Domestic Violence and asks us as a community, to stand up and say ‘NO’ to violence.

All of us can make a difference, and White Ribbon Day was an opportunity for us to stand up and speak out to end violence and insist on respectful relationships for all. It was a really positive morning for our students and teachers, and we look forward to participating in this annual event.
