This Sunday 6th November we invite all families to attend our Parish Family Mass. It is at 9.00am at Mary Help of Christians Church, Hillvue Road. Everyone is then invited to stay and share morning tea provided by families from Year 2 and Year 5. It is a wonderful chance to worship together and to connect with our parish. We hope that you are able to join us.
To mark the closing of the Parish Jubilee Year, we welcome the Mission Team of the Sisters of the Immaculate from Armidale to our Parish between the 4th and 10th November. They have been invited as missionaries to the Parish to visit homes and the Primary School to teach students about Eucharistic Adoration.
Class visits (Primary) will be on Monday 7th November, with Eucharistic Adoration on Wednesday 9th November.
Join our Parish in giving thanks for the Diamond Jubilee (60th) of St Edward’s Parish South Tamworth.

The launch of our annual St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal will begin next week, on Monday 7th November. Our Mini Vinnies groups will oversee the collection and sorting of items.
We ask all students and families to donate non perishable food items that can be put into a Christmas hamper to help those families who are struggling. Some suggestions from the St. Vincent de Paul society are basic items such as noodles, cereals, biscuits, muesli bars, tea, coffee, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner etc. In addition to these items, they are hoping for some items to help people in need celebrate Christmas, such as chocolates, lollies, soft drink, christmas puddings etc. Thank you in advance for supporting this worthy cause, helping out local families in need. Donations can be made to the class teachers or at either school Office.
This week we had the inaugural meeting of a new story lovers club. This is a club for kids who just love the stories they are reading. Over the past terms at St Ed's there has been a growing buzz with our primary students about what they're reading, what author they're reading and the themes they are reading.
We have taken the step forward to create a more formal opportunity for these students to buzz about books.
This term is a trial for how we will progress next year, but at the moment, we have decided we will read to a theme, meet every two weeks, and discuss what we liked and didn't like about our personally chosen books. We will also display the books we have been reading to encourage other students to give the good ones a try!
Our theme for this two weeks is: Realistic. This means anything that could happen in real life. That is quite a broad range from family, sport, friends, school and some adventure stories. It can be funny or serious.
So, if you have a child at the Primary Campus who can't wait to tell someone about the great story they are reading, encourage them to join us on Wednesday, 16 November, at recess 11am, with their snack, to have a chat about books. Treats will be provided! They are also more than welcome to pop in and say 'Hi' to Mrs Madden and Mrs Steph and have a chat to get up to speed about what's 'buzzing' with the group.
The Library is open to our students before school, recess and lunch. There is always, reading in every break and before school, various clubs at recess, and reading and drawing at recess and lunch. Borrowing is available all the time during the day and is strongly encouraged during break time.
The clubs include:
Early Bird Reading Club: from 8.15am every day when each campus is open.
Monday: Lego Club - Primary
Tuesday: Games Club - Primary
Wednesday: Lego Club or Craft Club
Thursday: Lego Club - Infants
Friday: Lego Club - Infants
Encourage your child to be a part of our busy, happy, vibrant library community by occasionally joining in with any or all of these activities. Please see below the days the library is open on each campus.
Primary: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday every week.
Infants: Thursday and Friday every week.
Both campuses are open:
From 8.15am for Early Bird reading and sticker collecting; and Recess and Lunch in playtime for reading, drawing and various clubs.
See you in the Library,
Mrs Annie
K-6 Teacher Librarian
