A Short Message from Dr Jake
Dear Parents & Friends,
It's that time of year when our social calendars start to fill up as the countdown to Christmas speeds up. We begin catching up with family, friends, work colleagues, sporting groups and community organisations to celebrate the end of year and "Christmas" cheer. We listen to their stories, achievements, their exploits and somehow we often begin to compare our lots in life.
Do you ever wish you were something different from what you are? Why is it that so many of us often wish that we were something different from what we are?
We try to be something else to please others when all we really need to do is to be ourselves. In order to be ourselves we need to be able to accept who and what we are. Each one of us is special. Special for so very many reasons – our skills, talents, abilities, personalities, natures, to mention a few. We have to first recognise these special traits about ourselves. Why not take time out now to mentally list at least six things that you are good at – your specialities! Now think of the talents of others in your family.
See, before long you are thinking positively about yourself.
Take time to read the poem below and then reflect on some of the quotes. Do any of them have special significance for you?
I AM WHAT I AM
I am what I am, I am my own special creation!
So, come take a look, give me the hook or the ovation.
It’s my world that I want to have a little pride in.
My world and it's not a place I have to hide in.
Life’s not worth a damm ‘til you can say I am what I am!!
I am what I am, I don’t want praise. I don’t want pity.
I bang on my own drum, some think it’s noise, I think it’s pretty,
and so what if my love is sparkled and it’s spangled!
Why not try to see it from a different angle!
Your life is a sham ‘til you can say I am what I am!
I am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses.
I deal my own deck, sometimes the ace, sometimes the deuces.
It’s one life and there’s no return and no deposit
One life, so it’s time to open up your closet.
Life’s not worth a damm ‘til you can say I am what I am!
Remember:
You do not have to change for God to love you.
Each one has to find his/her peace from within …
And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside influences
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us as we are only too happy to help.
Peace & Best Wishes
Dr Jake Madden
