Fantastic 3/4

Year 3/4

Week 6, Term 4

What have we been up to?

In literacy, we have continued to explore description texts by looking at a number of different articles, videos and books about the MCG. Students are using their knowledge from last week and independently writing a descriptive text. We are very proud of the effort students are putting into their writing.

In Maths, students are focusing on being able to recognise that the place value system can be extended to tenths and hundredths. We have worked a lot on being able to read different decimal numbers using the correct terminology and understanding their place value.

In Science, the students continued their research on a planet of their choosing and continued to find a whole lot of information about their particular planet. Students were given the choice on how they would like to present their projects. Students will continue to work on this for the remainder of the term.

In Inquiry, the students have explored what country means and the importance of looking after a country to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We discussed other rules that could help preserve sacred sites and the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will begin a research project on a sacred site of their choice.
