From the Principal

William Wallace

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to our Year 6 students and families as we enjoyed a fantastic graduation dinner earlier this week. It is a privilege to see how much the students have grown and matured over their time at Golden Grove and to see our families having the opportunity to gather together in community with us, as we celebrate their achievements and memories together, and wish the students the best for the future. Our thanks go to Mrs Hughes, Mr Gardner, Mrs Clark and Mrs Wilson for their efforts in making the evening such a success. We also appreciated Mr Napier joining us for the occasion during his long service leave.

It has been a busy week with Matsuri (Japanese Culture) day, and Jeon Sensei working with our Year 5 and 6 students to offer the children a range of activities throughout the day which included origami, goldfish scooping, Kendama, a Pokemon hunt, and cooking Origiri Rice Balls. Thanks, Jeon Sensei!

We had our final P & F meeting for the year which was held earlier this week and it was an opportune time to reflect on the way in which we are blessed with a caring and hard-working group who are a wonderful support to the genuine community of our school and nurture the staff and students of the school beautifully. I would particularly like to thank our P & F executives this year of Michelle Parcell, Kylie Chinca, Angus McKay, and Mel Laycock for the immense time and effort they put into the role. We have been very fortunate to enjoy a range of activities either conducted or supported by our P & F this year including our Welcome BBQ, our Foundation Parent Welcome BBQ, Harmony Day, MOT, Water Fun Day, Colour Run, Date Night, and many more!

Class Carers are another wonderful support group in the school, who are of invaluable assistance to many of our families and staff and are conscientious in seeking opportunities to help all of our school families, particularly those in need. We also appreciated the efforts of the Class Carers in arranging Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day stalls, as well as Christmas gifts for our staff team. We are particularly appreciative of the efforts of Karen McKinnon and Karen Tiller in co-ordinating the class carers this year and for all of our parents who have volunteered for this role with each class.

I highly commend each of these groups to you if you are considering being involved in the school next year. We are also seeking a Book Club Co-ordinator as well for those who may be interested in supporting the students in that way.

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Naomi Ali has accepted the Music Teacher role at Golden Grove from 2022 onwards. Naomi brings a wealth of teaching and musicianship experience and will offer stimulating music lessons for the students each week, as well as playing a range of instruments at a high level herself and with a strong background in choral, band and drama programs. The overall staffing and class allocations for next year have almost been finalised and will be announced shortly.

One of our last major events for the year, our annual Christmas Carol evening, is being held this Friday. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. Friday will be a great day as we will also enjoy our P & F Water Fun Day during the day.

Blessings,

Will
