Assistant Principal's Report

By Ben Welsh

As we enter the final few weeks of the year, it has been an opportunity to reflect on the successes our students have achieved as they faced the many challenges and opportunities that learning from home has offered.

We know from the feedback and feedforward we have received, that GWPS students developed an array of skills and strategies based around understanding their own learning journey. They have always been able to explain what they are learning and why, however due to this unique experience, they have taken it to a deeper level by explaining how they have learnt it.

While I have been watching and listening in the classrooms, I have observed increased resilience amongst students and initiative when they are presented with new learning. I have listened to students explaining how they have reached their learning goals during learning from home and how they will reach their next one now that they are back to onsite learning.

This transfer from home to school is an example of the successes our students have experienced this year, despite the challenges of 2021. Although this year has been different, I know that our learners are even more equipped to experience continued success into the future.
