Arts Domain update

This year’s Jaki Upward award winner is Jacob Wrigglesworth for his Artwork titled:

‘Family Movie Night’.

Jaki Upward is a former student of EMC.

Each year, we celebrate the achievements of our talented Art and Technology students through the Jaki Upward Art Exhibition.

The Year 12 students’ artworks and fashion garments are judged by a guest judge from McClelland Gallery and the overall winner is awarded the Jaki Upward Memorial Award. The judge was very impressed by the great technical and artistic detail in Jacob’s artwork and also the humorous insight into his family and everyday life.

Other students who were recognised as highly commended by our judge are:

  •  Ashleigh Mitchell
  • Audrey Stock
  • Jake Mills.

The Sam Neve award winner for 2021 is Dion Hall-McNish for his short film titled

 ‘The Jobsite’.

The Sam Neve award is given to the student who creates the best Year 12 film.

This award recognises their hard work and determination and highlights their talents in film making. As one half of the DFHM Production company, Dion came up with the idea for his short film early in the year and wanted to create a comedy in the style of the TV show ‘The Office’ about a group of tradies on a worksite.

He was superbly organised and managed to get all his filming done during the July school holidays before we went into lockdown. This meant Dion was able to focus on refining his editing once we were back at school in Term 3.

Well done on a fantastic result Dion!
