EXPRESSION OF INTEREST NT KOORIE 2022 CAMP INFO

Dates are dependent on expression of interest and border restrictions (May could be too soon to book). Dates are also required to be within dry season to ensure most areas are open and safe for travel. 

 

Central Aus camp may be submitted for approval for July holidays, Year 9 Tasmania camp in June.  No camps are compulsory, beyond highly encouraged for Year 7 and 12 camps, and as required for Outdoor Education senior subjects. Absences for NT Koorie Camp will be coded for cultural absences and are an approved absence.

During the day, explore Darwin (Museum, local gardens etc)

Notes:

  • Most meals will be made in MLLLC kitchens/BBQ facilities or within self contained units
  • 5 students per unit, 1 staff unit
  • Students can bring their own spending money above camp cost for additional snacks like ice creams, or keepsakes like souvenirs or artwork etc
  • Some areas will have limited reception however families will be provided tour company details/MLLLC contact details, and one staff member will have Telstra service
  • Koorie students of all year levels are encouraged to attend
  • There is no guarantee this will be an ongoing camp at this stage, it will depend on numbers and success of this camp
  • Minimum numbers will be required for the camp to go ahead
  • Non-refundable deposits will be required by a due date to be determined
  • Indicative price is approx. $1650 for everything listed as above (flights, accommodation, transport in Darwin, tours, travel insurance, entry fees to National Parks etc)

Stephanie Raike and Paul Wignall will be the staff in charge, with Skye Brennan as back up if numbers increase. First aid qualifications, water safety qualifications, light rigid bus licences and mental health risk assessment qualifications are held collectively by staff nominated for the trip. 

 

Expressions of interest close February 11, 2022, with deposits due shortly after that date.
