Junior Years Careers Activities
With the easing of restrictions came the pleasure of welcoming back guests to host educational and engaging career education experiences. Year 7 students learnt about a day in the life of those who serve our community through a visit from Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria. Year 8 students went on a Mindflight7 virtual reality adventure in which they immersed themselves in the work of an astronaut, heart surgeon, musician, biologist, designer, artist, park ranger and more! Year 9 students had an Hour of Power covering a range of topics, but with a focus on work experience preparation. Student feedback from these sessions was positive, with Natalie Eason from 8E commenting that, "Amazing, was very engaging and immersive - 10/10 - would do it again".
Can you host a student for work experience?
We call on the Box Hill High School community to help us relaunch our Year 10 Work Experience Program for 2022. If you own or manage a business, or know someone who does, or you work in an organisation willing to host a work experience student, we would love to hear from you! Our flexible approach allows students to negotiate a mutually agreeable week for their placement so that workplaces have more capacity to host students at their convenience. Please contact us if you can offer support at: careers@boxhillhs.vic.edu.au
Staying Connected to the Class of 2021
Finishing school marks a major step into adult life and on this milestone, we congratulate the class of 2021. We wish all students the best for their exciting futures and extend our support as they adjust to life in new study and/or work environments. Our graduates are welcome to contact us for advice and guidance by phone, email or through the online booking system. We will also check in with them in February and July through the destination survey, sent via email, to see if we can be of assistance.
Box Hill High School Careers Website & Student Bookings
We encourage you to explore the range resources for students and families on the Box Hill High School Careers website: https://www.boxhillhscareers.com/. Students can sign into a secure area using their @boxhillhs email address to access activities, tests and quizzes, and job application tools. The site will be updated and new content developed throughout 2022.
