NETBALL

Year 8

On Thursday 26 May the Year 8 Netball team, consisting of Millie, Zoe, Zeta, Mimi, Ava, Gloria and Alannah, ventured out into the wind and rain to participate in the interschool Netball tournament which was held at the Macleay Park Netball courts in Balwyn.

The girls played four games throughout the tournament against Canterbury Girls SC, Balwyn HS, Doncaster SC and Camberwell HS.

We were up against CGSC first. They were very athletic and strong and obviously had a team of high level netballers. They had an easy win over us! Next we came up against Doncaster and we scored our first goal - yeah! With numb fingers and wet socks, we soldiered on and were improving every game. Against Camberwell we scored seven goals and our passing and leading into space was much better.

We warmed up with some hot chips (Thanks Ms Gayfer!) and were ready to go for the last game against Balwyn (which we also lost).

Gloria playing Centre and Wing Attack deserves a special mention for passing well and cutting into space to receive the next pass, and Mimi shot very well from all angles and distances to maintain a 90% accuracy rate in Goal Attack, well done!

Congratulations to all the girls. They tried their best in very wet, cold and slippery conditions. All players experienced a variety of positions on court and learned a lot throughout the tournament. Well done! Go Kew!

Year 7

On Wednesday 1 June, four year 7 girls teams went out to compete at Macleay Park Netball courts for the year 7 netball interschool round robin competition. All girls had great fun, developed their netball skills and their understanding of the finer points of the game. A big thank you to Tasha Kay (head coach, team selector and official photographer), Olivia Miller, Mimi Castellan, Ekaterina Bletas and Tahani Shiekh for coaching the four teams, and to staff members Annette Welch and Eliza Brown for supervising the girls on the day.
