HAPE

Lots Has Been 'HAPE'ning

Lots has been happening in HAPE classrooms in Term 2. Our Year 7 students have been busy working on their Fundamental Motor Skills tasks, where they have to film themselves performing different skills and then using this footage to analyse their technique. In Health, they have been busy creating Anti-Bullying campaigns in a variety of formats – videos, poems or a song – exploring the important role that by-standers can play in decreasing the effects of bullies.

In Year 8 and 9 Physical Education, the theme has been invasion games, where students have been exposed to a variety of different invasion games and explored the tactics involved in each. Mental Health has been the focus for Year 8 Health students. They created an informative website in pairs, exploring either anxiety or depression, which are the two most common mental illnesses that adolescents can develop. In Year 9 Health, we have been fortunate enough to be running the Sexual Assault Prevention Program for Secondary School (SAPPSS), with presenters coming from outside the school to help us run this important program.

Our Year 10 PE students have been busy participating in the Leisure for Living program, where they are enjoying some fun, community based recreation activities for example Dark Zone, Wheelchair basketball and Archery. Our Year 10 Advanced Volleyballers are writing and completing their own training programs designed to improve a specific aspect of their fitness, whilst the Year 10 Sport Science class have been exploring biomechanical principles, as well as community programs available to help promote active living.

Keep up the great work!
