French Film Festival

In March students of Years 8 to 10 French got a taste of French cinema.  As part of the Alliance French film festival, they were taken to watch some new releases such as Belle et Sebastian,  Avril et le monde truqué (Winner- International Animation Award), and Les chevaliers blancs. 

The year 10 students were challenged by the moral issues raised in the film Les chevaliers blancs (The White Knights).  Based on a true event a group of French civilians attempted to ‘rescue’ -in a totally illegal way - orphans from their village in Africa to bring them to foster families in France.

French Poetry Competition

In May, 142 eager French students from years 7 to 10 took part in the annual Berthe Mouchette  Poetry Competition. While all students are required to learn a French poem off by heart, participation in the actual competition is voluntary. Our students really loved this activity and once again they showed enthusiasm and skill.  Results will be available in late July. The year 11 and 12 students will have their turn in an oral competition in August.
