PFA/School Board News

School Advisory Council:

We would like to warmly welcome Glenn Cannon onto the School Advisory Council for 2022. Glenn very kindly offered his services and we are looking forward to having him as part of the group in 2022. Please read the following introduction about Glenn:

  • I am  the parent of Keizen (2022 Grade 3 student at St Kevins) and Sena (2022 Prep student at St Kevins). 
  • I am a full-time Instrumental Music Teacher at a Catholic Secondary College in Melbourne, where I teach guitar and run several of the school's bands
  • I have always balanced working in education and performing as a professional musician
  • I have previously worked in the tertiary education sector (in music) where I was a Program Leader, Lecturer, and Course Coordinator 
  • I have also previously taught guitar and ensembles at a variety of secondary schools both in the Catholic and government sectors in Melbourne 
  • Included in my roles as a Course Coordinator and Program Leader at Australian Institute Of Music was curriculum design, examination, collation and moderation of results, implementing academic support for struggling students, timetabling, and assisting staff with day-to-day needs.

Thank- you Glenn for offering your time and expertise to the St Kevin's community.

 

The School Advisory Council is still looking for two more new members for the 2022 school year. Please send me an email if you think you my be interested in joining the group. We meet once a month on a Tuesday evening (not in school holidays) from 7.30 - 9.00 p.m. at the school (when it is not lockdown).

In order to be in line with Ministerial Order 870, (a requirement for all registered schools in Victoria), we are required to obtain Working With Children Checks (WWCC) for all people who volunteer in any capacity in our schools – including parents. Volunteer WWCC are free and can be obtained by filling in a form online at http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/home/applications/

 

You will also need to fill out the attached documents to volunteer at the school.
