Teaching and Learning

What a wonderful week of learning it has been across the school. Students have participated in the wide range of programs on offer, with many taking their learning beyond the classroom through work placements, excursions and Experience Days. Connecting learning to community settings enables students to develop new understandings in context and apply learnt skills.

Our 9/10 Section have been focusing on career related skills, developing their emerging understanding of budgets, job applications and interviews. During Writing sessions students have started developing their CV and engaged in mock interviews. In Maths sessions they have learnt what it means to budget and the complexities of managing a budget.

With the easing of restrictions, the Year 11/12 students have now been able to access all VET programs offered. They have been able to put into practice specific work related skills that they have been developing throughout the year, as their placements are nearing completion.

PreCAL students in 9/10 ventured out and about for their Experience Day to Wombat Bend and enjoyed a nature walk together as a group. These experiences enable the students to re-connect and re-engage with the community and each other.

Term 4 SSG Meetings

On Tuesday 30th November, we will have our final SSG for this year. These SSGs provide an opportunity for families to discuss the Semester Two Student Report with the classroom teacher as well as celebrate student learning and achievement for 2021.

Specialist teachers and Allied Health staff will also be available to meet with you upon request. We will continue to use WebEx as the platform for these meetings as a safe and manageable approach for 2021. The SSGs will be held after school between 3.15pm – 7.00pm.

Bookings for SSGs will be open via Compass from Tuesday 16th November. Further information regarding booking details will be posted to Compass next week and class specific information will be communicated by your child’s classroom teacher.
