Principal's Update

Paul Clohesy

Congratulation to all our Year 12 VCE students who have now completed all their final examinations. We are looking forward to catching up with the entire Year 12 cohort on Thursday evening for their formal graduation event which will be held here at the school. Unfortunately for the second year in a row, due to COVID, parents and carers will not be at this event in person with us, but will instead be watching a live stream of the formal part of the evening.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all our parents for choosing Trinity College to educate their children and we certainly hope we have lived up to the expectations you have had and that we have provided a safe and happy environment for the students to spend their secondary school in, a place where they have felt accepted and have been able to achieve their best.

The Graduation will begin with a prayer service that will be led by Fr Michael. Each graduating student will be presented and the College’s prestigious awards will be announced.

Following the formal part of the evening the students will share a meal and spend some time together. While there is some sadness attached to the last time a cohort will assemble as a group at school, we are all enormously proud of the Year 12 students and know they are ready to make their mark on the world.

Early Start Program

Such is the cyclical nature of schools, as one year level departs the next steps into their place. This week our Year 11 students will finish their examinations and start their Early Start program where they begin their Year 12 classes.

Early Start enables students to be introduced to their year 12 subjects and they are provided with preparatory work to complete over the holidays to ensure they are ready to begin next year in a positive manner.

Our 2022 student leadership team will be spending November 25 and 26 in Queenscliff where they will be undertaking leadership activities as well as beginning to plan the initiatives they would like to implement next year.

Each year the message from staff on this camp is to focus on how they can best ensure Trinity College is a welcoming and engaging place for all students. A particular emphasis is placed on welcoming the new Year 7 students and making sure they feel connected as they begin at their new school.

College Awards Structure

Over the next two weeks we will have the opportunity to recognize the outstanding efforts of students this semester. Our Semester Two student awards have been aligned with The Trinity Difference model.

Students will be recognised for their achievements in the areas of Character, Skills and Knowledge. Each subject area will allocate each of these awards to a student in their class. The student at each year level with the highest number of awards overall will be presented with the Trinity Difference Award.

In the past our awards structure has had a focus on academic achievement. While we still believe academic achievement is important, the effort and attitude alongside that achievement is even more important and is now also a key element of the awards structure.

The award recipients will be communicated to families in upcoming newsletters.
