Assistant Principal's Report

Semester Two Reports

The Department of Education and Training has adjusted the expectations around student reporting for semester two in recognition of the disruption caused by COVID-19. A modified written report will be provided for each student focusing on their progress and achievements. These reports will be available to view/download on Compass on Wednesday 15 December

Reports will include a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum taught along with the progress made since the last time these curriculum areas were reported on.

Teachers always look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you at the end of the year. It is a time to reflect and celebrate the achievements (big and small) of each individual child. We acknowledge that every child learns at different rates and regardless of where they may be compared to others, the important thing is that they progress from where they were.

Progression points on a report show where a student has moved from one point to another in the curriculum, but they do not show the smaller increments of learning that are required to achieve the bigger goal. Teachers see these little increments throughout the year during class work, formal and informal assessments and observations, and are noted along the way. Although the little increments of progression may not show up on the report as movement to the next progression point, they are just as important to acknowledge and celebrate – every little step forward is a step towards achieving your goal!

Teachers are in the process of completing assessments and recording progress, which will continue up until Friday 10 December. This information is important not only to see what progress has been made, but also for next year’s teacher to see where students are up to in their learning, to ensure students are given tasks that align with their needs.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Teachers will be holding Parent Teacher Interviews via WebEx, the week commencing Monday 29 November. These interviews will be 10 minutes in duration and will be held throughout the school day.

Interview schedule

  • Monday 29 November – Foundation A, C, D & E
  • Tuesday 30 November – Year 2 and Year 5
  • Wednesday 1 December – Year 1 and Year 6
  • Thursday 2 December – Year 3 and Year 4B
  • Friday 3 December – Foundation B and Year 4A & 4C

The interviews will provide the opportunity to share important information around the wellbeing and transition of your child.

Parents will receive a link to join your interview via Compass, on Thursday 25 November. When you join, you will enter a virtual waiting room until the teacher lets you in to your interview. This will prevent anyone accidentally joining someone else’s interview. Adherence to time will be met to ensure interviews are punctual.

Bookings are made through Compass and will remain open until the day prior to the year level interview date.
