Class of 2021

Official classes for our Year 12 students concluded on Tuesday 19 October.  It was wonderful to see our Year 12 students smiling and laughing as their final days of classes drew to a close.  Students had planned an array of activities including:

  • Lockdown/Pyjama Monday
  • Fancy Dress Tuesday and
  • Formal Wednesday.

These three days included a formal Year 12 Farewell Assembly, photo booth, best fancy dress competition, pizza lunch, formal Year 12 graduation photo and lunch, time capsules, PFA memento glass and Year 12 video.

At our formal farewell assembly we acknowledged the following students:

ADF (Australian Defence Force) Future Innovators Award

This award recognises recipients’ Science and Mathematics abilities while highlighting the value the ADF place on STEM skills.

Charlotte Thompson
Charlotte Thompson

Congratulations to Charlotte Thompson.  Charlotte has excelled in both her commitment and dedication to STEM studies.  Achieving a perfect score for Year 12 Biology in 2020, Charlotte continues to apply her knowledge of STEM into her personal interests such as constructing and maintaining a beehive in her backyard.  Charlotte has demonstrated innovative approaches to recycling and sustainability in the school.  A key driver is for Charlotte to be part of the Australian Antarctic Division and to participate in the work being undertaken.  This goal was further strengthened after attending the NYSF (National Youth Science Forum) in January 2021.  Charlotte continues to link her learning to the COVID-19 challenges Australia is facing, expressing interest in following her passion to be an innovator in the world of medical research

Our Year 12 Class of 2021 can be proud of their achievements.  To say this has been a difficult and challenging year is an understatement.  I would like to congratulate our Year 12 students – I am so proud of all of you and your achievements.  You have formed an important part of our history and I am full of admiration for you in your dedication to your studies and your resilience.

The VCAA examination period commenced on Wednesday 27 October and will conclude on Wednesday 17 November.  Our exam supervisors have commented that this year’s students have been the best they have supervised over the years.  Congratulations to all Year 12 students on the perfect start to their exams.  I am sure this is due to the high expectations communicated by Year 12 teachers.  It has been very pleasing to see the high number of students who have been at school meeting with their teachers, attending revision lectures and completing practice exam papers.

Thank you to the Year 12 teachers who give freely of their time and work diligently in assisting students, marking practice exams and holding revision lectures to assist students in preparing thoroughly for these exams.
