Principal Report

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the first full week back at school for everyone. We are so happy to have everyone back on site every day. We welcomed the children back on-site Monday with balloons and bubbles. It was terrific to see their delight as they entered the gates.

Thank-you for having the confidence to leave the children at the gates in the morning. The children have shown confidence to get to their class independently and quickly, ready to start with their learning.

Canteen: We have found a replacement to operate the canteen after Marg and Mary left at the beginning of this term. I am pleased to announce the canteen will re-open on Monday 15th November. Jan will be the new operator and will provide more home-made food such as fried rice and spaghetti bolognaise. Keep a look out for an updated canteen menu.

Hats: Please ensure your child has a broad-rim hat to wear at recess and lunch and for learning outside. It is important for sun safety protection. Sunscreen is available in the classrooms for children to apply themselves. If your child has sensitive skin, you may like to pack some in your child’s bag for them to use. Please consider applying sunscreen on your child before coming to school each day.

Year 6/7 Transition Day: We have had confirmation that the Year 7 Transition Day will go ahead on Tuesday 7th December. All enrolment forms should have been returned to the secondary school by now. Our Year 6 teachers are meeting virtually with staff from the Secondary Schools to pass on relevant information regarding the children to ensure a successful start to their Secondary School experience.

Before School Care in 2022: After the recent survey Extend conducted, they have decided that they have enough interest to run in in 2022. Please contact Extend to book your place at your earliest convenience. https://www.extend.com.au/families/enrolments-and-bookings or phone them on 1300 366 437.

Prep 2022 Transition: We have also had word that we can run our Prep Orientation program. Parents of 2022 Preps please check the Class Dojo Page for updates. If you have not enrolled your child yet, please do so as soon as possible so they can participate in this important program.

Volunteers On-site: Parents who come on-site in a volunteer capacity, such as Parents Club, parent helpers, cutting up fresh fruit, sausage sizzle etc will need to be fully vaccinated and will need to show their certificate as they sign in.  Parents who enter the school for meetings will not need to be fully vaccinated, but will be required to wear a mask and sign in.

Prep Enrolments for 2022: If you have a child in preschool, or is turning 5 before 30th April 2022, we are accepting enrolments for Prep 2022. Please call the office for details and to book an appointment with a member of the Principal Class team, either by phone or by WebEx. If you have family or friends with children who should start school next year, please encourage them to contact the school for a Prep Enrolment Pack and an interview time. Unfortunately, we cannot do School Tours until things settle down. Once we get the all clear we will let everyone know because we are looking forward to showing everyone our wonderful school.

2022 Plans: We will be beginning the process of forming new class grouping for 2022 during Term 4. In order to know how many classes we will need please contact the office to let us know so we can plan accordingly. If you are unsure of the new school that is okay, we do not need to know that information at the moment.
