Malgobila News

Years 10,11 & 12

Musings from the Hub

Well what an exciting start to the year it has been from the Senior Hub desk. Receiving notification that we are back to wearing masks was a bit of a downer but it was so pleasing to see that most students, without any fuss, whipped their masks of their bags and pockets and continued, business as usual.

Year 12 students have come in raring to go after a strong start last year provided by our transition program which was capped off by the Coonawarra Study Camp. The arrival of the Year 12 jumpers is imminent and we may have enough late orders for a second order. Please see the Hub for details.

On Wednesday February 17th, James from Elevate is coming to run Time Management workshops for our Year 12 students as a follow up to the workshop they attended at last year’s study camp. Students will fondly remember James’ humour and won’t be surprised to learn that James is not only Elevate’s Team Leader but with that very soothing voice, he moonlights as a radio presenter on Melbourne’s KISS FM.  James will present to our teaching staff on the Tuesday evening prior to the Year 12 workshops as a means to ensure we are all on the same page. Teachers can link the time management skills they learn in their workshop to those that the students learn in their session with James on the Wednesday.

VCE and VCAL Delivery and Assessment Policy handbooks have been distributed to all Year 11 and 12 students. Both of these documents are available as downloads on Compass and the College website. The policies cover everything from attendance requirements, redemption of SACs and CATs, exams, subject changes and expectations of students and staff. If you are the parent of a VCE or VCAL student please ask them for a flick through it, or source your own digital copy on Compass and our College website.

We welcome Year 10 to Malgobila who need to be congratulated on how quickly they have found their way around and settled into their classes. They are on the way to setting the scene for their VCAL or VCE pathway which will be investigated for each student during Term 2.

Students and their families have done a great job in ensuring that uniform is looking fantastic and we encourage you to contact us if you need assistance.
