Principal's Report

Our students taking action

This week I enjoyed sitting with Mia (SKG) and hearing of her passion for sustainability and the environment. I listened to Mia’s proposal to enhance our school’s practices and was in awe of her vision for positive change.  As a result of her proposal, on Monday 14th December all students will be involved in a ‘Clean-Up CHPS’ day.

Further to Mia’s action, Archie, Isabelle and Lexie of JPB have formed the team ‘Littermitty’, who are dedicated to cleaning the yard each day!  Great work team!

I look forward to working with Mia and the Sustainability Team on their other proposals next year and encourage our community to continue to take pride in our school grounds.

Some sort of normal!

This week it’s been great to get back to some sort of normal! The Preps have had their outdoor camp day (see banner pic) with parent helpers, our families have been coming onsite to drop off their children and CHAPS volunteers have been sorting lost property.

Earlier this week, we were also overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the Kingma family, who surprised staff with a 'thankyou' array of delicious sweet treats - we felt very spoilt!

Our school’s close connections to our families are a feature of the school and have been missed throughout the year.  We are so happy you’re all back!

Year Six Graduation

It’s official - parents and carers will be included!  Year Six families are asked to monitor Compass for the specific instructions relative to Graduation. These will be released, in part, in the Senior School Weekly Update tomorrow and in full in a standalone post next week.  Whilst we are extremely proud that we have ‘found a way’ to include families, there are tight restrictions and associated logistical organisational requirements. It will be non-negotiable that these are adhered to.

Colour Run – Friday 11th December 2:30pm – 3:25pm

A reminder, next week CHAPS is hosting our annual Colour Run. It is suggested that students bring some old clothes to change into at lunch-time and an old towel as we will have the sprinklers on!

Please head to Compass to ‘approve’ your child’s participation in this event. As per other years, this event is a school fundraiser with all money contributing to the completion of the asphalt path between the northern driveway and the Junior Playground:  see

Donations Sheet

Donations can be made in cash, EFT or directly over the phone to the office.

Note: The school respects that all families are each experiencing varying financial pressures as a result of our COVID-19 year. As a result fundraising this year is optional.

Community members are welcome to attend but asked to record their attendance using the Contact Tracing Visitor FORM.

Parent Thank-You Morning Tea

Thank you to the staff and families who nominated parents, carers and other community members who have contributed ‘above and beyond’ this year.  The school will be hosting a Thank-You Morning Tea for these families on 14 December, 11:15 – 12:15. If you have a last minute nomination please complete this FORM ASAP.

DET Gifts, Benefits and Hospitality

'Thanks is enough' is DET’s desired standard when responding to offers of gifts, benefits and hospitality.  In saying that, DET and Croydon Hills Primary School fully understood that families may wish to show their gratitude with a ‘Gift of Appreciation’. If you are considering acknowledging our staff, can I please request that you support our adherence to DET Policy and not donate cash vouchers (debit cards).  NB: non-cash vouchers are permitted, ie: a voucher for a specific retailer, provided it cannot be converted to cash.

Bunnings BBQ

Thank you to the families and staff who have nominated to support our school’s Bunnings Chirnside Park BBQ on Saturday 19th December.  If you would like to assist please head to the Compass post for the link to the sign-up sheet, otherwise, pop down for a sausage or two!
