Dear Families,
This is our last Newsletter for 2020. We are currently in the season of Advent – the time of preparation for the great feast of Christmas. During Advent, we are called to make an effort to recollect ourselves and remember the true meaning of Christmas. The coming of the Saviour is very appropriately the most joyful time of the year. At Christmas, we celebrate the mystery of the Incarnation: God choosing to come amongst us and live as one of us. By doing so, God emphasises to us the essential dignity of all human life. It shows how special each of us really is. The image of the Christ child in the manger, as humble a birth as can be imagined, is an enduring reminder of the nature of the Kingdom of God he came to bring about. I pray that the real peace and joy of the coming of our Saviour touches all our hearts this Christmas.
2020 has been a strange year in so many ways. We have all had to adapt to circumstances, often with little notice. The resilience shown by students, families and staff has been inspiring – no matter what has happened, people have risen to the challenge and got on with things. So many of our traditional markers through the year have not happened, many have remarked that the end of the year came up with something of a rush.
The College closed its Academic year last Thursday with our annual Presentation of Awards Ceremony. I had a privileged position at this event – giving each student his or her award is a special moment shared with each individual. Every student coming up to receive their award showed three characteristics – they were all happy, all showed they were grateful, and each one was proud of what they had achieved for the year. This newsletter contains a summary of all the awards. Congratulations to all of our award recipients, we are proud of you. You have all done very well!
Please note your school resumption date for 2021:
Wishing all our families a Happy and Holy Christmas, and an enjoyable and relaxing summer break. We look forward to seeing you next year.
