Dear Brookside Community,

With only 3 weeks left before the end of the year, it certainly will be busy times ahead as we reflect on the year it has been and come together as a school community to finish off 2020 in a positive way. We have many great events coming up to be excited about with each year level’s end of year celebration on various days, the Year 6 and Year 9 graduation and the Brookside Windows in replace of our annual Christmas Concert.

Student Support Group Meetings

Over the last two weeks, there have been SSGs (student support group meetings) held for various students across the College. These meetings have been an opportunity to reflect upon goals set earlier in the year, achievements made and discussions around supporting students with transitioning into 2021. Thank you to all parents/guardians, students and staff who have been involved and have been a big part in making these SSGs successful and positive for all the students.

Year 7 State Wide Orientation Day

Brookside P-9 College is pleased to announce that Year 7 Orientation will take place onsite at the school on Tuesday the 8th of December. This includes all current students and new enrolments. Students will be in their 2021 classes and will have the opportunity to meet their homegroup teacher as well as engage in different subject sessions throughout the day.

2021 Prep Transition

Over the past four weeks, as part of the Prep transition program Kinder children have engaged in both online and onsite sessions partaking in various activities lead by our current Prep teachers and as well connecting with other Kinder children.

It has been a very successful four weeks with lots of positive feedback from both parents/guardians and teachers. The next part of the transition program is ‘Meet & Greet’ which will take place on Friday 4th December where children and their parents/guardians will meet their 2021 Prep teacher during a 15 minute timeslot. This will be a great opportunity for parents/guardians to ask questions and share relevant information which will assist their child transitioning into Prep.

Year 6 Celebration

To celebrate the final year of primary school, the Year 6 students and their teachers will be acknowledging this special milestone with a celebration on Thursday 10th December. Students will participate in various activities during the day and return back to school in the evening to share dinner with their peers followed by a disco to conclude the event.

Year 9 Graduation

The Year 9 Graduation will take place onsite at the school on Thursday 17th December. The ceremony will be live streamed via Webex as well as recorded for distribution to parents/guardians. The Year 9 events elective team are working hard to make this a memorable event to see out the year with a bang.

2021 Year 7 School Council Scholarship

We are pleased to announce the selection process for the Brookside College School Council Scholarship is under way. The recipients of this scholarship is for two students who are currently in Grade 6 and continuing their studies into Year 7 for 2021 at Brookside College. The Scholarship is an educational support scholarship of $500 value and is funded by the Brookside College School Council. These funds will be held by the school and be available for the family to spend on educational items, for example booklists, school uniform, camps, excursions or activities.Prospective applicants were asked to submit a written application. Shortlisting and interviews were scheduled to occur this week and successful applicants will be announced in week 10.
