Sport

As per the documentation sent to all parents and senior school students last week, please note that there will be NO official school sport or local sport competitions or training sessions that involve College teams FOR THE REMAINDER OF TERM TWO.

Hopefully, either myself or the heads of sport will have some positive news before the end of term for you all in regard to the resumption of trainings and/or competitions when we return in Term 3.

In the meantime, students should keep doing some fitness and skill training by themselves or with some friends.

Football Academy

It is with great excitement I can inform you of the football academy program that began last year will be able to return in Term 3 this year, however:

*Please Note: The Western Bulldogs Football Club will NOT be involved with the academy in 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus and its impact on the AFL Industry.

This is indeed most unfortunate news and will limit the opportunities that the participants have. However we aim to have some ex AFL and VFL level players and coaches involved in the program still and a new initiative for this year if COVID-19 restrictions allow will be a game against another school based academy in late Term 3.

Once again Liam Picken, local Hamilton icon who played 198 senior matches for the Bulldogs and is also an Old Collegian, will be the official Ambassador for The Hamilton and Alexandra College Football Academy.

The Hamilton and Alexandra College Football Academy is open to Year 9 and 10 College students wishing to excel at football and only for those that have already displayed some talent in the sport. To be considered, they must have the passion and time to be able to commit to one fitness and one skills training session per week, at a time TBC – this will be likely held before and/or after school times as per last year.

Students that are interested in participating in this exciting opportunity must fill out the application form emailed to all of Year 9 and 10 and return to the Director of Sport, Mr Alexander, by Tuesday 9th June at the latest

Mr Leigh Alexander
