Senior Years and Wellbeing

Wellbeing

I thought this week was a nice opportunity to steer away from COVID-19 related information and to focus on an Australia wide event occurring this week.

From 27th May to the 3rd of June is National Reconciliation Week. It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same every year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

The theme for this year is “In This Together” and there are many opportunities for students and our wider school community to be involved in many virtual events. I think it is an important week to pause and reflect upon how as individuals we can show respect towards others in our lives and how to can strive for unity as a community and nation. Displaying respect and compassion are important skills all year round, not just during the next week.

Below are some events occurring during the next week, I would encourage students to take a look at some of the events and consider ways they can promote reconciliation towards others.
