Wyndham Happenings

Pyjama (PJ) Day
To celebrate reaching the end of term we would like all students and staff to attend school in their Pyjamas on Thursday 25th June.
Students who are have Up & Go, PE or Sport will still wear Pyjamas. Students will complete formal learning in the classroom for the first four lessons of the day, after lunch they will enjoy a movie and snacks.
Please follow the clothing recommendations for this day:
- In accordance with our school policies student must wear stable footwear, please send our child/ren to school wearing sneakers for outdoor play.
- Students are permitted to wear their slippers in the classroom. Slippers cannot be worn in the playground.
- To remain warm please dress your children in a warm underlayer such as thermals, leggings, long sleeved tops and place the Pyjamas over the top.
- It is recommended that they wear their school jacket or another warm jacket or dressing gown when outside.
- The mornings are still quite cold so gloves and beanies are a good idea.
We look forward to having some fun on PJ Day this Thursday 😊.
Moving Day
Can you believe it?!…it is moving day on Friday the 26th June! We are so excited!!
There is much to carry over to the new building we have enlisted the help of all of our students. Students will help their teacher to pack boxes and will carry light items to the new space. They will help their teachers to set up and decorate their rooms. Students must wear PE uniform on this day with sneakers.
The following classes/spaces will be moving:
- Library shifting from the Admin building to Prep S
- Prep S shifting to Grade 1C
- All Grade 1-5 classrooms shifting to the new building
- Reception and staff room shifting to the new building
- Head of Campus, Head of Teaching & Key Administrators shifting to the new building.
Parent Volunteer Hours
The opportunity has finally arrived to complete some Parent Volunteer Hours.
Families are encouraged to complete a minimum commitment of 10 hours for the year. Alternatively, you may opt to pay $350 in lieu of the 10 hours of service commitment, this has been invoiced as part of your fees during Term 1, by lodging this form with College Reception by 30th November, that amount will be credited back to your FACTS account.
The entire school is moving locations (with the exception of Prep G, K & J). We invite parents/carers to assist us to start to move into our new space during the coming week: Monday 22 - Wednesday 24 June at various times & a large number of helpers on Saturday 27 June 9am-3pm. (A current Working with children check is required to volunteer onsite during school hours, not required to assist on Saturday as there will not be children on site.) This service can be allocated towards your Parent Volunteer Hours, be sure to collect a form and have your volunteer hours signed off accordingly.
We welcome the progressive easing of Covid19 restrictions to allow larger gatherings in places like restaurants, community halls and at celebrations such as weddings. As we plan we will evaluate the tasks, allocate rostered session times and monitor helper numbers to facilitate appropriate group sizes and safety measures as recommended.
All helpers will be required to sign in at Reception through Compass Kiosk, sanitise their hands upon arrival & have a temperature check. Please do not attend if you are unwell.
Those assisting will need to bring: warm clothes, sturdy shoes, a pair of gardening or work gloves or the like to help protect hands, your own water bottle. You may also bring food to store in the fridge.
Please register your interest using the link below and we will be in touch in the coming days to confirm roster times and any further details:
More building
You may have noticed that there is some significant earth moving happening behind the new buildings. We are currently constructing a Swale Drain to manage all of the water that will come off the rooves, car parks and road ways. This is an essential item for Stage 1A and all future projects related to the expansion of our College.
School arrival - beat the rush
We have worked at our end to enable our school grounds to be open and supervised from 8.15 am to help facilitate staggered drop off times and temperature checks, sanitisation of hands at entry for safety and to help with traffic convenience.
Please utilise the earlier start times to beat the rush and ensure your child arrives at school on time - school starts at 8.45 am and students should be at their classroom at this time.
There is a flow on effect for each student that is signed in late with queues at the Compass Kiosk to sign in, delays in getting students to class with staff are required to escort them, increased contact between staff and parents. Students also miss key information about their lessons/day and interrupt the classroom environment as they come in later. Some classes are also not held in their in their classroom such as PE or Outdoor Learning, this also presents an issue.
We appreciate your efforts to assist us in the timely arrival of students.
Australian Dental Health Van - visiting in Term 3
The Dental Health Van will be visiting Wyndham Christian college from Monday 10 August 2020 to provide dental check ups and treatment for students. This service is provided with no out of pocket expense being bulk billed with Medicare for eligible students under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Free check-ups can also be provided for students who are not eligible for Medicare.
For your child to be seen, you will need to complete a Dental Consent Form, forms were sent home this week with students.
Extra Dental forms are available at College Reception if required.
Please return to the classroom teacher by 26 June to facilitate booking appointment times.
Change to start of Term 3
Our College staff usually gather to engage with the annual Christian Schools Australia conference at the beginning of Term 3. Unfortunately due to restrictions of the Coronavirus, the conference for 2020 has been cancelled.

The first day for all students in term 3 will now be Tuesday 14 July.
Monday 13 July will be a student free preparation day for staff. Please note this in your calendar accordingly.
School Reports available next week.
As advised via email this week your child/ren’s Academic Report will be available for you to view on Compass from 2.00pm on Thursday 25th June. Please take the time to sit with them and analyse the report as it provides valuable feedback on their learning and work habits.
You can access the report by clicking on “Profile (Attendance, Schedule)” from your homepage in Compass (https://wyndhamchristiancollege-vic.compass.education/ ) and then clicking the “Reports” tab at the top of the page.
