Covid-19 Health Message

VCAL student, Chase Norfolk participated in a project developing a community health message that saw him perform in a video that has had over 5000 YouTube hits in less than a week.

The Rap song was originally aimed at young indigenous people with a message of how best to protect themselves against  coronavirus, but the catchy tune reached a broad audience.

The video was produced in less than 24 hours by Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative, Nalderun, and People Pictures and features Uncle Rick Nelson with lyrics written by Declan Furber Gillick. Chase figures in the video singing and performing.

At the time of printing, negotiations are underway for the video to be shown on a loop on the big screen at Federation Square in Melbourne.

Rotary Partnership

Every Thursday morning, members of Castlemaine Rotary visit Etty St and cooked delicious breakfast with their trademark egg’n’bacon toasted sandwiches.

Students decided having our own chickens to supply eggs would be a sensible thing to do. So Angus Opperman met with Kerry Anderson and developed a funding submission that saw Rotary donate $500 towards the project.

During remote learning Angus, Charley and Chase have been coming in to Etty St with Mr Carroll and working on their project.
