Principal's Report

Returning to New Normal

It has been great to have all of our students back now that our Year 3-6 students are back with us. Our 'new normal' seems to be working well and students are relaxed back at school and re-adjusting to life back at school. Term 2 has posed many challenges to everyone, and it has been a difficult time with so many of our school based activities not able to take place.

I am pleased to inform parents that from the start of Term 3 the following aspects of school will return:

  • Canteen, both window sales and lunch orders
  • Instrumental Music Lessons
  • Digi Makers
  • Just Brass
  • School camps have also been announced as able to go ahead. Both of our camps are in Term 4 and these will go ahead as planned. This also includes our Year 2 sleep over in Term 3.

There has been a great deal written and spoken about the COVID-19 situation. A resource that comes highly recommended is Brace for Impact, written by Dr Amy Silver and Alessandra Edwards. The book is available as a free eBook and can be downloaded at http://braceforimpact.com.au/

Parents Association

Our wonderful Parents Association have been busy rearranging their planned events across this year to adhere to the physical distancing restrictions and how they have changed over the past few months.

At our meeting on Monday night the rest of the year has been planned out with a number of exciting events which provide not only a wonderful social opportunity to families, but also much needed fundraising opportunities for the school.

The current fundraising objective is to assist with the purchase of the two remaining play grounds which were planned for installation in early 2021. Covid-19 has prevented some of the events being able to take place so I would ask that all of our community supports the work of our Parents Association across the rest of the year. When the events dates are confirmed please put them in your diaries and calendars and if possible please support these events. Our biggest event planned (subject to Covid restrictions) will be at the beginning of Term 4 being a Murder Mystery or Trivia Night (details are currently being finalised). This night is always a lot fun and laughter so please if you are able attend please do so.

Performing Arts

During Term 3 we will have Angelique Both join Marlborough in the role of Performing Arts teacher. Angelique currently also teaches at Highvale Primary School and brings a strong knowledge of the Performing Arts with her. I now that everyone in our community will welcome Angelique.
