Deputy Principals

Semester One Reports

This year, Semester One Reports will be finalised and released to families at a slightly later date than previous years. This is as a result of the disruption to teaching and assessment caused by COVID-19. The revised timeline for the release of Semester One reports is as follows:

Year 11 and Year 12: Reports will be released at the end of Week 2.10

Year 7 – Year 10: Reports will be released in the first week of the school holidays.

Students will receive a report containing Learning Behaviours for all of their classes but due to some of the constraints caused by remote learning, there will be some practical courses that will be unable to provide students with a valid semester grade. Information about which of course will report Learning Behaviours only will be provided with the final release of the reports.

Teacher Interviews

St Norbert College was a required to cancel the scheduled Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews in Term 2 due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19. At this stage, we are still planning to hold the Term 3 round of interviews on Tuesday 28 July in order for teachers to discuss the Semester One reports with students and parents. The College is still finalising details regarding the format of these interviews as, depending on restrictions, they might be either face-to-face or be run online using video conferencing. Once these details are finalised, the College will confirm all the details about booking and attending these interviews on the scheduled date.

Year 11 Information

Approximately 63 Year 11 students are currently in the midst of their Semester One examinations. These examinations reflect the final assessment opportunity before their Semester One reports are finalised. As the end of the semester approaches, the process of future academic pathways and subject selection for 2020 begins. There are some important Year 11 events that are part of the subject selection process which include:

  • Monday 15 June: Semester Two Units begin
  • Wednesday 1 July: Year 12 Subject Selection Information Period 6, BP Forum
  • Wednesday 1 July: Year 12 Subject Selection Online opens for current Year 11 students
  • Tuesday 28 July: Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews

Year 11 students wishing to change subjects or pathways this year, need to make an appointment with Mr Hawke or Mr Dowling as soon as possible. Changes need to be made as soon as possible to avoid missing the start of Semester Two work. Changes can only occur with teacher approval, if there is sufficient room in the class and if the Minimum Entry Requirement is met.

Student Attendance

Students who are unwell should stay at home. Parents are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of Covid-19. Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence apply. Please call on 9350 5433 or email absentee@norbert.wa.edu.au before 8:30am.

Medication

Parents and students are reminded that the College is unable to give out any medication (eg Panadol, Nurofen, antihistamine etc) unless it is an emergency. It is recommended that if students need non-prescription medication for headaches and allergies, that they keep a small quantity in their lockers.

Uniform Shop

Thank you to all families for ensuring students were in full winter uniform from 25 May.

The Uniform Shop winter trading hours effective from Monday 15 June will be Mondays and Thursdays 1pm – 4:30pm. Please note that small items such as ties, socks and tights are available for purchase anytime from the Café and Student Services. Orders and enquiries can be made via email uniform.shop@norbert.wa.edu.au

Drop off and pick up

The safety of students is a priority at the College and some very dangerous practices have been occurring before and after school each day. Please do not drop your child off or wait for them for pick up in the administration or Priory carpark at the beginning and end of the school day. This carpark is only for Priory or school visitors. There is ample parking on Treasure Road.

Year 10 Information

This is a crucial term to begin the process of career decisions and therefore future academic pathways. Semester 1 results determine whether students can select particular subjects for 2021. With the cancellation of Year 10 exams this year, it is important that students are completing all other assessment to the best of their ability to ensure the best possible Semester 1 grades.

There are some important events that are part of the subject selection process which are outlined below:

  • Weeks 9 & 10: Course Information Sessions from Heads of Learning
  • Week 1 holidays: Semester 1 reports uploaded
  • Wednesday 22 July: Year 10 Parent-Student Information Session, 6:00pm
  • Tuesday 11 August: Year 10 Course Counselling Interviews, 3:30pm – 7:00pm

The School Curriculum and Standards Handbook offers advice to parents and students and has been uploaded onto SEQTA Documents.
