Education Week

To celebrate Education Week 2020, Kingswood High School prepared several activities students could enjoy.

Education Week took place during week 3 of this term. It was a celebration of our school and the fantastic work we do together as students and staff.

To kick off the celebrations, a new riddle was posted every day. Winners included Lily McEwen Gillespie (Yr 10), Amy Howard (Yr 8), Lachlan Jenkin (Yr 7), Lily Sammut (Yr 12), and Reva Mehroke (Yr 11). We also held a bookmark design competition which was won by Reva Mehroke. Cheyenne Horne (Yr 12) was runner-up. Mr Holburn graciously held a library competition where any students who borrowed a book from the library went into the running to win $100 worth of books of their choice!

The lucky winner was Emily Fry (Yr 12). Due to the high number of entrants, an additional winner of $30 was drawn, and the winner was Wilhelmina Foster.

On the Tuesdayof Education Week, a challenging Scavenger Hunt was held where students had to solve various clues to take them to different parts of the school. It was a hit with entry forms running out almost immediately! Ultimately, Christopher Beers, Shontay Dezenieks, and Lisa Swinnerton-Slee (Yr 9) proved their ability to think quickly, and they were the winners!

And who could forget the controversial Tug-of-War competition where the large-by-numbers year 7 cohort beat the large-by-size year 12 cohort in the finals at lunchtime! It was indeed a shocker!

Our final event for Education Week was held on Thursday. It was a treasure hunt where 30 treasure chests were hidden in plain sight in various locations. Students that found these treasures were then asked a question relating to their education. The hunt continued onto the next day when it was announced that there was still one more treasure chest to be found! It was quickly discovered by recess, and the hunt came to an end.

All in all, it was a very successful week, and everyone had a lot of fun! Thank you to everyone who got involved and showed pride in themselves and their school!
