It has been a delight to meet so many families over the past two weeks and talk to them about the wonderful opportunities Calrossy has for their children.

I have met families from Tamworth, Loomberah, Barraba, Gunnedah and Sydney. I have spoken to parents on the phone from all over NSW, Shoalhaven, Sydney, Brisbane, and all our neighbouring suburbs of Tamworth. It has been a privilege to show so many families around our growing and changing school and talk to them about the academic programs, the wide range of extra curricular activities and how Calrossy is committed to providing a caring and supportive environment that enables our students to have success at every stage of their learning.

One thing that has stood out to me as I take families around on tours is the smiling faces of our children. One father remarked to me that he thought “all the children look to be very happy here.” I believe the best time a prospective family can tour the school is when the school is busy, in the thick of a usual school day and even at break times. These tours show families just what our school truly is like. These interactions with students and seeing how you are talking with your peers and teachers are the best advertisement for the School. How you wear your uniform, keep your playground clean and tidy and respond to visitors walking by are all just as important as the subject details I tell them about. It is not just my role, but the whole Calrossy community’s duty to show our visitors and prospective families what a great school we have.

Thank you to the students who said hello to me and smiled, who said hello to the families touring our school. To the students who also held the doors open, engaged with us and openly talked about what you were doing in class, it makes a big difference. Thank you to the students who paused when we were walking on the path and let us walk by. Your manners and friendly nature are appreciated.

I look forward to continuing to meet more families and current students over the coming weeks.
