Learning & Teaching

St. Raphael's differentiated lessons during Home Online Learning

This term, you might have noticed a change in the structure of the Zoom sessions as well as the online learning tasks across F-6. The teachers in each year level are working very hard in continuing to provide a differentiated program for each student whilst we are learning online. This includes the introduction of small group guided reading lessons, small group writing conferences, focus child PPP check-ins, and differentiated Maths tasks and clinics.

Let's have fun with SPELLING

Students in F-6 are doing a great job with keeping up with their spelling while we are online and it is a credit to the teachers for their explicit videos and tasks that provide the students with the support to achieve this. Here is another great spelling task to combine spelling practise and physical activity -  which we all know how important it is to keep up with.

Exploring Maths

Regularly engaging and exploring Maths and the world around us, will help develop children's understanding and thinking skills. In Maths, our focus is on the four proficiencies; Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning. When students explore Maths, we encourage students to think and justify their thinking. You can support your child by asking them to explain, justify and reason their own thinking.
