Home Online Learning 2.0 and I am enthusiastic that we will still be able to deliver a Physical Education program that will allow for the students to continue to develop their skills and understanding of the skills, whilst alway from Greenland and the sports equipment that we have access to at school. I encourage you to work with your child to look at alternative ways to replace sporting equipment around the house, and some of these examples are as follows:
Tennis Ball replace with socks, scrunched up paper
Bat replace with newspaper, rolling pin
Skittles replace with empty bottles
I am also excited for the students to be able to view their Physical Education program through a Google Site that I have created for this period. Whilst it is constantly a work in progress, the aim is for this to be flowing and easily accessible to all students, ensuring that previous weeks activities are also visible.
A return to Home Online Leaning has also allowed for the return of our online weekly challenges. I met with the House Captains earlier this week, and we have mapped out a plan that will allow us to incorporate different skills from different sports and activities. I look forward to sharing these activities with you over the course of the term, with the major focus of building the team spirit for our four House groups - Bass, Burke, Cook and Flinders.
Over the holidays, I decided it would be fun for the students to have a challenge incorporated into their time away, one that would encourage them to be active throughout their break. The results across the school for the two weeks are as follows:
3175 Push Ups
5336 Star Jumps
1608.1km Walking
1860.2km Running
880.5km Riding
Well done to all students and families who participated throughout the break.
Our first weekly challenge for Home Online Learning 2.0 continued on a theme of being active every day throughout the challenge. It was great to see so many students committed to being active and contributing to a healthy community.
The students were able to walk 287.4km, run 133.6km and ride 281.4km, which is a tremendous effort, throughout the period of the first challenge.
