EHS Reading Café

We launched our “EHS READING CAFÉ” during Library and Information Week (LIW) in week 5 this term and it will be held on a weekly basis every Wednesday at lunchtime in the Non-Fiction Area. Many students attended, brought their own books or borrowed one. Books of different genres were laid out on tables to give students a chance to see what is available for them at our library. Students were offered snacks and drinks. It was lovely to see how everyone was engaged when they found an interesting book to read for pleasure.

Acrostic Poem Competition Winners

Congratulations to our three winners, Declan Ryan, Angela Elsie Paterson and Eh Mu Tha who participated in the Library and Information Week (LIW) 2020 Acrostic Poem Competition! They submitted creative and beautiful poems and received prizes to congratulate them on their contributions. Well done and looking forward to your next poems.

Balance your time online

Here are some tips to help you learn to manage time and habits online so that it does not take over our lives entirely.

* Make a plan - to help you focus and use up your time wisely, set daily tasks you want to achieve e.g. study, exercise, socialising and rest.

* Set short routine breaks - to stretch or go for a walk if you are using a device for an hour or more.

* Turn off notifications on Apple and Android devices while you are studying.

* Monitor or limit your phone use - Many phones have settings allowing you to track how long you spend on apps and set daily usage limits if you are constantly distracted.

* Try limiting your gaming time if playing online is beginning to affect your schoolwork or social life you can organise an activity or an outing with your friends.

* Turn your devices off or put them on airplane mode at least an hour before bedtime to ensure you have good quality sleep.
