MUSIC CAMP

Over the weekend, members of the music department went to Warburton for camp. This involved performing and rehearsing, but most importantly, having fun. On the drive up, we performed to primary schools, Emerson and St. Mary’s. It was really uplifting to see the kids at Emerson get up to dance. To refine our performing skills, we spent some of the weekend rehearsing and even learnt some new songs. On the last day, a concert for all groups (HONK!, Concert Band, Soul Collective and Bollywood Fusion) was held and we all got to see what each ensemble had been working on. Music camp also generated some friendly competition between each section. The teachers and the music leaders came up with music-themed trivia to do on the first night, and challenges to do on the second night. These were great fun. On Sunday, we all went to the Redwood Forest where we spent an hour exploring it. The trees and the creek were incredibly beautiful. Above all, camp created a real community feel and gave us the opportunity to get to know people better and form new friendships. Music camp was a fantastic experience and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.
