VCAL SYN FM Incursion

On the 24th of May 2022, Hayden and Jasmine from SYN FM came to our school to help us record a segment for their radio station. I really enjoyed this activity and learnt a lot about radio. I opened and closed for the school’s segment. Julie and I spoke about the talking stage pre relationship. When our conversation flowed naturally, I had a lot of fun and felt engaged.

Julieanne and I started thinking that we actually wanted a podcast of our own because of how interested we were in this incursion. I would do this again and I feel our segment was a success.

The VCAL radio segment will be aired on Friday the 3rd of June at 11am on SYN FM in their schools on air program.

VCAL CAMP

On the 26th and 27th of May, 23 VCAL students went on VCAL Camp to the city and South Yarra. On Thursday, students visited ACMI and did ice skating at O'Brien Icehouse. Students demonstrated their team work, helping others during the ice skating. Dinner was at Soda Rock Diner. On Friday, students went bowling before returning to school.

Feedback from the students included:

"Ice skating was a highlight for me because we all helped each other out and got to know each other better. Seeing Ms Campbell fall over was a funny moment, but we helped her up." Madison, Year 11

"I enjoyed the Soda Rock Diner best because the food was so good and the staff dancing was unexpected and amazing." Eden, Year 11

"I loved getting to know my VCAL classmates better and strengthening my connections with other students." Sharna, Year 12

"It was a wonderful time to reconnect with one another without the stress of school." Jasmine, Year 12

"I communicated with people that I don't normally talk to." Bianca F, Year 12
