Alumni program
Koonung’s alumni program commenced in January this year and is really gaining momentum. We are attracting lots of interest from our wonderful past students who are keen to be added to our alumni database. It would be much appreciated if you could share the Alumni Program Coordinator’s email address (alumni@koonung.vic.edu.au) with any past students and encourage them to touch base expressing their interest to find out more about the alumni program. We would love to invite them back to the College to talk about their study / career pathway since finishing Year 12.
On Thursday 19 May, eight Business Management and Accounting students from Years 11 & 12, embraced the opportunity to attend an ‘Ourschool Industry Insights’ event at EY (Ernst & Young) professional services firm in Melbourne’s CBD. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about the corporate workplace, different departments, teams and jobs at EY, the different post-school pathways including skills, qualifications and experience required to work for EY and to gain a better understanding of the changing landscape of work, jobs of the future and expectations of employers. The panel that presented were current employees of EY and alumni at various Ourschool partner school.
On Wednesday 15 June, Ellie Anfruns (Year Group 2015) was a fantastic guest alumni at the recent YR12 assembly. Ellie was candidly honest which this was really appreciated by the cohort. Ellie is the first to admit she wasn’t a great student, wasn’t happy with her ATAR but didn’t let this stop her from pursuing a pathway to land her dream job; being accepted into the Graduate program at EY on the Business Consulting – Finance team and she’s absolutely loving every minute of it.
Koonung Secondary College’s Alumni Program is being developed in partnership with Ourschool, www.ourschool.net.au, a not-for-profit service that helps government secondary schools build a thriving alumni network to benefit current students and the school community.
