Reconciliation Day

The Reconciliation Action Committee put on a fantastic event at the College earlier in June to celebrate National Reconciliation Week. Both the staff and students were involved in the day's activities, where the focus was to celebrate Indigenous History and Culture.

There was a lovely Morning Tea put on by the RAC committee for staff to enjoy. Along with this, there were several lunchtime activities for the students to get involved with. They included Indigenous-themed arts and crafts, Marn -grook and music. In conjunction with this Koonung Reconciliation badges were sold for $4 each. All the proceeds went to the Dijrra charity.  All their programs support Aboriginal women’s journey to safety and wellbeing. We were very happy to raise over $250 for this wonderful charity.

The College is committed to National Reconciliation and doing the work to Close the Gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. If you are interested in learning more about these issues, please come along to the Reconciliation Action Group meetings, led by Ms Stimar, Ms Sens, Mr Kennedy and Ms Molloy.
