Music Camp
After much anticipation, Music Camp finally happened! All students involved in the Music Ensemble Program at Nazareth College were invited away for two musical days together at the beach. During this time, students were able to continue developing their performance skills and expand their participation in music. The camp was also a chance to foster independence in music learning and build confidence through successful and meaningful music creation. Furthermore, the camp assisted students to deepen their knowledge related to their instrument while developing and strengthening friendships across different year levels of students who share mutual musical interests.
The students attended Don Bosco Camp in Safety Beach on 9 and 10 May and an ensemble rehearsal scheduled was followed during these two days away. On Tuesday afternoon before departing, each ensemble successfully performed musical works for each other, and it was a beautiful way to end the musical experience. We acknowledge the 70 students involved in the ensembles that attended Music Camp including students in: Choir, Senior Contemporary Band, Junior Band, String Ensemble, Junior Strings, Guitar Ensemble and LIT Band. We also thank all the instrumental staff for leading Music Camp and for preparing repertoire for each ensemble to rehearse.
We next look forward to our Music Soiree Night. It was originally scheduled for next week, Thursday 26 May, however the College has decided to postpone the event until the last week of Term 2. The Music Soiree is an opportunity for all the ensembles to present the musical items that they have been working on together this year to parents and to the Nazareth Community.
Music Soiree Night – Ensemble and Instrumental Students – Postponed
The Music Soiree Night has been postponed until the last week of Term 2. This will be Thursday 23 June in the Wheeler Auditorium. This is an opportunity for all Music students to showcase their musical skills and progress of this year so far. The night will commence in the Auditorium at 7.00 pm and all the ensembles will perform. At 7:30 pm, the audience will move between the Auditorium, Ngargee Room and Band Room so all instrumental students have the opportunity to perform as a soloist. The night is also an opportunity for parents to meet with the Instrumental teachers at Nazareth. We look forward to this even coming up in the next few weeks.
