 Learning Habits:

It is with great enthusiasm that we launched five new Learning Habits this semester. These Learning Habits will underpin all aspects of learning that takes place at our college, and all students will be assessed against these habits for their Progress Report, published every 6 weeks via Compass.

The new Learning Habits are:

Our school vision is centered around student empowerment, and we strongly believe that these new, research informed, learning habits will support all students to continuously develop as great learners and achieve their personal best here at HPSC.

Please find attached an infographic that outlines the five Learning Habits and the Rubric that students will be assessed against for their Progress Reports.

 Reporting Changes:

Over the last six months we have been reviewing our Reporting practices here at the college. We are now implementing some positive changes to ensure reports are more personalised to the student and easily read by parents/carers.

One of the main changes it to how students receive written feedback from their teachers. All teachers are now expected to use a three part structure when providing SAC and Learning Task feedback. This structure looks like this:

Part 1. How are you going (Feedback) – minimum of one sentence outlining the students’             achievement in that learning task.

Part 2. Where to next in your learning (Feed Up) - minimum of one sentence outlining the            next step(s) for the student in their learning.

Part 3. How can you get there (Feed Forward) - minimum of one sentence explaining how            the student can improve.

The second change for parents/carers to be aware of is the 5 point grading scale currently used to measure achievement. Currently, we are still using an A – E scale with the following descriptors. However, we are continuing to review this as we more towards more research informed developmental assessment.

AAccomplished within the assessed Standard
BBecoming  Accomplished within the assessed Standard
CCompetent within the assessed Standard
DDeveloping toward a Competent level
EEmerging skills
UGWork not submitted or incomplete
NANot assessed
A* TO E*Alternative common assessment task grades
