Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences are taking place on Monday 5 and Thursday 8 September. The booking system is now open on Compass. These interviews will be done remotely via Google Meet and lesson plans will still be posted on Compass so students can continue with their learning at home.

YEAR 7 - 9 ELMS: ENTRANCE TEST NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Please be advised we are now accepting nominations for the ELMS (Enhanced Learning in Maths and Science) Entrance Tests for students currently in Years 7 - 9.

Nominations close Thursday 1 September 2022.

These tests will take place in Term 4, Week 3 (week commencing Monday 17 October). This is due to the Select Entry Schools offers process taking place from September to November 2022. Please note - TESTS WILL NOT BE COMPLETED REMOTELY.

Please complete the following Google Forms to register your child for these tests:

Please note if you wish to nominate for both Maths and Science you MUST complete both Google Forms.

Students that are currently in the ELMS programs are NOT required to complete the entrance test. However, if you are in one of the programs (eg. Maths) but not currently in Science ELMS you will have to nominate for this Science ELMS test if you wish to be considered.

Only students who have completed the Google Forms will be able to complete the tests.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY - Wednesday 7 September

A reminder that we will be having a staff Professional Practice on Wednesday 7 September and no students will be required at school. The only exception is students completing the GAT on this day at school (information about this has already been provided to VCE students).

During this same week we will be conducting our Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences on Monday 5 and Thursday 8 September. Lesson plans will be uploaded on Compass so students can continue with their learning at home.

UNIFORM

All students need to be wearing full winter uniform correctly. This includes traditional leather lace-up school shoes (not black runners), and the College blazer to and from school during Term 3.  The PE Jacket must only be worn on a day when students have Sport/PE.

We will conduct several more uniform checks throughout the term and the Student Managers and Principal Class will be monitoring our students’ uniform before and after school.

STUDENTS RIDING BICYCLES TO SCHOOL

Please ensure your child wears a proper bicycle helmet when riding to school and they take extra care when travelling the narrow streets of McKinnon. We are very worried that some students do not exercise sufficient care on the roads. Likewise, we ask all parents/carers to drive and park cautiously around the College before/after school, and to be mindful of the many students riding bicycles to and from the College. Please note, students must not ride scooters or skateboards to school.

AFTER SCHOOL

Families are reminded that students should vacate McKinnon Reserve, Virginia Reserve and Marlborough Street Reserve by 3:30pm each day. Students’ behaviour and conduct in these parks is so critical. Students must not be using the play equipment during this time, these areas are reserved for young children and their families. We also ask that students in Years 7 to 9, not attend the 7-Eleven afterschool.
