PAST EVENTS

String Night - Monday 1 August

Congratulations to all the string students and staff who were involved in an amazing twilight performance. Soloists, small groups, Keenan strings and Chamber strings delighted the audience with their capacity to perform at such a high level. Thank you to Clare Bugeja, Stuart Cook, Rose Kavanagh, Andrew Albanis and Christine Vincent for the work they did leading up to, and the performance itself. Thank you also to the AV team for their continued support.

Brass Night - Tuesday 2 August

Fun was had and music was made when brass musicians of all ages assembled in the Theatre to present a wide variety of music to parents and friends. Amazing solos were featured between ensemble items large and small. Musical offerings ranged from classical concertos to jazz standards, the Ukrainian National Anthem to music evoking Melbourne's streets, movie themes to traditional folk tunes.

For some items, saxophonists and rhythm section players got to join in the action. It was very exciting to be performing this concert live again in front of a packed audience after two years away, and the enthusiasm of the Year 7 students participating for the first time was obvious!

Thanks to Mr Serebrianik, Ms Videon and the other music and tech crew staff for putting on such a wonderful event.

LESSONS AND ENSEMBLES

A reminder that instrumental music lessons have now recommenced so please ensure that you watch the Compass schedules and emails for confirmation.

A reminder that all payments for instrument hire and lessons should be made through the Finance Office or on Compass.

Students who are learning an instrument at the school are required to be part of the core ensemble program, and again being part of the instrumental program is dependent on commitment and attendance at ensembles.

These ensembles are an integral part of the music program, where students can apply the musical skills that they have covered in their individual or small group lessons. All ensembles have now started rehearsing.
