Around The Primary

Dear Parents

The students and staff are getting very excited about the opening of our refurbished Library next week and we have many new and exciting books for all ages to read. Now, more than ever, books can help transport, transform, and inspire students to explore thousands of amazing stories.

We encourage you to join us in unlocking the wonderful world of reading for your children. Help them to join the Premier’s Reading Challenge. All students from Kindergarten to Year 10 are challenged to read 12 books by 9 September 2022.

Program objectives:

• To engage all Western Australian students in the joy of reading

• To expose reluctant readers to creative literacy options

• To involve parents and caregivers in supporting students’ literacy

You can help your children sign up via the website, choose their own avatar and log all the books they read over the course of the Challenge.

The CEWA Registration Form for students to complete their reading journey is attached.

Students (or their parents or caregivers) will also need to register at www.premiersreadingchallenge.wa.edu.au

The website contains advice and tips for parents and families to support their child’s learning. All students who complete the challenge will receive a commemorative certificate signed by the Honourable Mark McGowan MLA, Premier of Western Australia.

We hope many students will take on this reading challenge.

Kind regards

COVID Reporting

Thank you for keeping unwell children at home and in the case of children taken ill at school, special thanks for collecting them so promptly. As we have had several positive COVID cases across the College this week, it is important that parents monitor their children for any symptoms and, if required, administer a RAT test before they come to school.

It is important that the College continues to be notified of student positive COVID cases.  Please inform us via this LINK. The information will go directly to the College. If there are any queries related to this process, please advise Emilee Rippon at compliance@johnxxiii.edu.au
