Toy Design!

In Term 4 the students have been exploring the characteristics, properties, materials and components that are used to design and produce toys. 

Labcoat Learning Toy incursion 

We enjoyed a fantastic incursions where the students investigated the history and the science behind how different toys  function.  We bring a heap of different toys with us, setting them up in stations depending on their design.  Students rotated through different stations containing a variety of toys where they were able to explore how different toys functioned.

Show and tell 

The students have enjoyed brining in their toys to show the class.  Students have brought in their favourite toy, a toy that moves by hand, a toy with a push and pull action, an educational toy and a toy that is powered by battery.

The students  were given the opportunity to create a project showcasing their new knowledge. The students were able to plan, design and construct their own toy.
