2019 Art Exhibition Opening Night, September 2019.
Hospitality students in Years 10 and 11 were responsible for the amazing food and creative mocktails served at the opening of the 2019 Art Exhibition.
Walking was the order of the day as Year 11 Hospitality students hit the streets for a Walking Food Tour of the City on Thursday 19 September. Students feasted on breakfast, snacks and lunch while shopping in unusual places for food, learning about the cultural influences in foods we eat. The day started with breakfast at Toastface Grillah sampling the amazing cheese toasties in a funky up-cycled building in Wolf Lane.
Next stop was Kakulas Brothers who have been operating from the same site since 1929. It's a mecca for spices, coffee, dried fruit, olives and chocolates. Students tried new flavours and learnt how much of the food we eat today, is influenced by European migrants. The tour continued into Northbridge experiencing supermarkets, bakeries and grocery stores influenced by Asian migrants. Last stop of the day was lunch at a busy Japanese café and a Gelato store.
Students and families are invited to attend the Murdoch Admission Pathways Open Night if they are looking for a Plan B, looking to move from TAFE to university, or don't have an ATAR. Murdoch's friendly staff will help them find their pathway to university and support them along the way.
