Football

Over the last three weeks we have had six teams playing in a five-a-side soccer tournament here on the oval.  After the round play and some fantastic goals, it came down to Staff vs Students in the grand final.  This game happened on Wednesday this week, and was very, very, very competitive. 

The students were off to flying start with a goal in the first minute to go 1-0 up before the staff fought back hard to level the score at 1-1 just before halftime.  Some serious team talks ensured, and it was again the students with some classy footwork, sneaking another goal past the staff keeper.  It was looking like a sealed victory until a corner ball provided a header from the staff to level the scores.  As the full-time whistle sounded, the students agreed to golden goal extra time. 

The staff had a great opportunity, but brilliant goalkeeping kept the score locked.  The students then caught the staff off guard with a slick through ball and made no mistake finding the back of the net. Students for the win 3-2.

The girls did a fantastic job and earned the victory.  They now look forward to using the prize together when they attend the next W-League Roar home game.
