Choir

As we come to the end of another term of the school year, the choir has been super busy!  In the past few weeks, Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival (QCCMF) has come and gone.  Also, one of the major choral events of the year has taken place -  Brisbane Sings.

At QCCMF, the Performance Chorale and Showcase Chorale combined to form one auditioned choir which showcased all of the skills and talents of the students that had been practised leading up to the performance.  After the performance, the girls were proud of their performance pieces.  This reflected in the Gold Award that was presented at the end of the section.  The Chorale members should be extremely proud of their achievements and their efforts!  Because of the amazing performance at QCCMF, the Combined Choir will also be performing to the College at the annual Cultural Festival, which is on the last day of Term 3.

Furthermore, on the following Sunday, 21 girls from the college choir participated in Brisbane Sings, held at the Concert Hall in QPAC on 18 August.  With only three practices with the whole ensemble, and a few during lunch breaks and after school, the performance was phenomenal.  With 500 voices singing at once, it felt incredible to sing with so many people who all have a love and passion for singing.  The show featured songs from the Beach Boys, Hairspray, Newsies: The Musical, and so much more!  It was a huge success with the students, and hopefully the College continues to participate in such an amazing event!  Here are some photos from the day:

What’s Next?

The Choir is now preparing for the end-of-year showcase, which will take place in Term 4.  This event will include all the choirs from St Anthony’s, Padua College, and Mount Alvernia.  This night is a night when the girls get to celebrate all the hard work and rehearsal time during the year.  The Choir also performs at the College Awards Night.  This is a great night to be recognised by the college community for enriching assemblies and events throughout the year, and is always a worthwhile performance of which to be a part.  There is another opportunity for students to be a part of the college opportunities. This is performing at the Sony Camp Sunday Mass on 22 September.  If your daughter is interested in participating in this wonderful opportunity, please email Mr Crump or me so we are able to organise this as soon as possible.

If your daughter is interested in joining Choir, it is never too late to join the singing family.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the College, Choir Director Mr Crump, or me.
