Tournament of the Minds/Chess/ICAS

A huge congratulations to Cooper, Zoe, Erin, Olivia, Aryan, Andrew and Nate who represented Weeden Heights at the Tournament of the Minds competition last Saturday. The team have been working together over the past 5 weeks and were required to perform their creative solution to a challenge in front of a panel of judges at Deakin University. It was a very challenging experience for all involved but it was fantastic to see their presentation come together and for them to participate in an incredible learning experience that encouraged them to work creatively and collaboratively. The admirable team were very hardworking throughout the competition, giving up lunch times, recess and weekends to participate in the event. Well done! Thanks to Mr Keeghan for coaching the team and all families for hosting and supporting the team throughout the challenge.

Chess Club continues to run on Friday mornings and it’s wonderful to see so many smiles, concentration and respect from students involved. It’s excellent seeing the students learn strategies and play the game each week. Our tutors Daryl and Peter will continue to run the program in Term Four. Term Four enrolment notices will be available soon if you would like your child to be involved.

ICAS exams are coming up. They will take place at 9:15am on test days so please ensure students involved are at school on time. Best of luck to all students taking on the challenge.
