School Libraries Matter:
There is a group, of which I am part, looking to promote the importance of school libraries to student learning and mastery. In many schools, there is no teacher-librarian, and, as we are often the only one in a school, the understanding of what we do can be limited to those who work near us or closely with us.
The group, School Library Coalition, has set up a survey for parents which they have asked me to share with you. There is no compulsion to complete it, but your involvement would be appreciated. It may even lead to you asking me about what I do or why I do it the way I do for your children!

Michael Panckridge Book Orders:
Michael left order forms with the students who attended his sessions last week. There is no compulsion to buy, but books ordered this way will be delivered to school signed by the author. Thank you to those who have already returned forms and money. Can all such orders be in by Wednesday next week (8th November) – either to Mrs Povey or to myself, with money so we can place the order.
Year 12 End of School:
As students finish their examinations it is critical that they come through and get us to sign them off from the library system. This will mean that all resources are returned and parents will not get a bill in a few weeks’ time! We will not sign students off who may need to borrow items before they complete their last examination, as once they are deleted we cannot lend to them! This is a sad but vital part of our work! We certainly hate to say goodbye to them all, and it has been wonderful to see so many of them in here studying this week.
